Retro Fit For Grade Listed Building
Cambridge – Our client was wishing to upgrade two accessibility disabled platform lifts which were first installed in 1999.

Historic England’s South East office is located at Brooklands Avenue, Cambridge. Built Circa 1830, 24 Brooklands Avenue is a Grade II listed building situated in a conservation area of Cambridge.
Our client was wishing to upgrade two accessibility disabled platform lifts which were first installed in 1999. iKONIC LIFTS tendered the replacement lifts works via a third-party website. Once we established contact, we issued a tender package to the client and awaited their reply.
iKONIC CHALLENGE
Brooklands Avenue requirements were to replace two pre-existing disabled platform lifts originally installed 20 years ago. The main obstacles we overcame was firstly the building being a Grade II listed building and secondly iKONIC LIFTS would be required to conduct all the relevant construction work including all the existing lift removals and building works.
This also included final decorations and achieving the same exact fit and matching finish prior to the old lifts being removed. It was critical the lift blended into the environment.

The Universal Vertical Platform lift solution that iKONIC chose was perfect for the application as this product could operate with the pit and headroom limitations and came with a suitable structure allowing us to maximise and make best use of the limited space that was available.
SOPHISTICATED LIFT THINKING
The installation was carried out by our factory trained multi-disciplined engineers, who completed the project well within the time scale and budget allocated. Ensuring all the client’s requirements were catered for and the end results was as requested.
iKONIC RESULTS
With the installation successfully completed, this allowed for less able persons to access all the floors within this elegant historic building whilst also retaining the magical original character and persona.
Our client was that impressed we were asked to complete further building work that was non lift related, of which we were more than happy to help.
